I had SUCH a busy weekend. Thursday Aunt Courtney and Mr. Shawn came to visit and it was my six month appointment with the doctor. He says I'm growing perfectly. I'm on the same growth curve as I was at my earlier appointments which means I'm putting on weight and height just like I should. I'm exactly 14lbs and 26" long.

I got some shots, which was NOT fun, and that night I started to get sick. I'm a lucky girl though, because Grandma Mary and Grandpa Vandevander were visiting so they spent Friday with me and I got lots of TLC. I felt much better on Saturday and we got to play some while Mommy took some classes and Daddy went to the gym.

While I'm waiting for Grandma Mary to send pictures from the weekend I thought I'd show you all what we did on Sunday! I got my first cereal. Mommy says it was less of a "meal" and more of a "mixed media art project" but whatever you call it, we had a good time.

Here I am before the food, see how clean I am? How there's no mess on me?

Time to get messy! YAY!!!

Hmm.. It tastes different, I'm not sure I'm up for "eating" it yet but I'm happy to roll it around on my tongue and get it on my chin.

Hey! You! Gimme that spoon! You keep putting it in my mouth but then taking it away? Don't you know that when it comes to putting things in my mouth I can do it myself? Silly Daddy!

Mommy says to hang in there though. Even if I'm not a big fan of rice there's good stuff ahead of me. Oatmeal, she says, and apples, and something called "filet mignon."

Sometimes Grammy calls and wants to talk to Mom. But sometimes she calls and wants to talk to only me! Mommy puts her on speakerphone and then puts the phone where I can reach it. Grammy and I talk about how what we're going to do together the next time I see her and about all the fun we'll have as I get bigger.

Mommy says that even though Grammy can hear me she can't see me, so we thought these pictures would help her see what it's like on my side of the conversation.

"OOOH! Grammy's on the phone for me. Hang on Grammy, I'm coming."

"Hello? Hello Encyclo -? Hello? Encyclo-?" (Mommy says Grammy will find this funny)

Hmm, it seems like Grammy can't hear me. I'll get the phone closer to my mouth. Maybe IN my mouth. She'll be sure to hear me then!

I can't wait for our next talk, Grammy!

When I was a little girl I couldn't do a lot. Mostly I just looked around and ate and slept. But now I'm big and I can do all kinds of fun things. Here I am doing some of my favorite things.

I love story time. I get to have it every night before bed. Mommy or Daddy read to me and I always get at least one book. I play with the pages, I listen to their voices, I think about how fun it's going to be to be able to read on my own someday!

Here is Daddy reading me one of our recent books. We got it at the library. I'm a big fan of the library. This book is called "Llama Llama Mad at Mama" and even though I don't understand why anyone would be mad at his Mama I like the rhymes and pictures.

My newest favorite thing to do is to play in my exersaucer. It's SUPER fun and I can play with the dragon and the sun and make the pages of the book turn.

See? Here I am hard at work making the pages of the book turn. You can see the furrows of concentration as I work. Mom says I have a "determined streak" and she smiles when she says it. If I didn't know better I'd think she was expecting me to grow up stubborn like her and Daddy. But that'll never happen!
